Welcome to STEAM In The Game summer camp 2020! On behalf of the Organizing Team for STEAM In The Game summer camp and inline with your passion for STEAM education and outreach to Black and Latinx/Hispanics youth, an underrepresented and underserved in STEAM/STEM disciplines, I’m writing to invite you to become a community partners for STEAM In The Game summer camp set for 24, 25, 26 July 2020 over a 4 hours block each day. After reading this email, if you would like to be a Community Partner, Student Coach, or Ambassador or wish to contribute to this event in any other capacity, please take one minute to respond to this form by Tuesday, June 30th.
What is STEAM in the Game?
STEAM in the Game is a FREE, a 3-days Virtual eSports STEAM Summer Camp to introduce and engage middle and high school―males and females—underrepresented and underserved African American and Latinx or Hispanic students to explore educational and career opportunities in (STEAM) fields. Our approach is simple; attract (Basketball and eSport Tournament), awareness (Inspirational Speakers), engage (STEAM concepts and challenges). This educational program uses the tool of Basketball and eSport as an entry point for learning game design, game production, 2D and 3D character animation, game theory, computer science, mathematics, and science principles using the Unity open source platform and is complemented by other XR platforms.We have space to invite 400 students ages 13-18 to participate in this amazing virtual summer camp. Thanks to Community Partners, students from Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia (MDV-DC area), New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia, and Arizona will have an opportunity to participate in this inaugural event.
